EKR and team wins the 5th consecutive World finals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports park!!!!
A crazy weekend for the team for sure, we unloaded the new boat and proceeded to set top time on her first two runs with a 3.58 @ 254 and a 3.48 @ 254. What happened on the third qualifying run would shock the team when a gear box failure caused the boat to spin out and crash. The good news is that driver Daryl "Madd Maxx" Ehrlich was completely uninjured in the ma-lay and returned Sunday Morning with a vengeance by taking the old boat to the final round and surpassing our current world record with a time of 3.43 @ 260 to defeat the spirit of Texas. Daryl then went on to the final and where both he and Whiskey River had problems and crossed the out of bounds marker. Our foul being the least of the infractions awarded us the trophy.. CRAZY weekend but well worth it. With our third straight Championship in the books we have begun preparing for the 2014 season.. Stay tuned as we are actively courting new sponsors as well as existing sponsors to get us back on the water!!
Well unfortunately our last race didn't go quite as planned, we broke a blower drive in the semi finals and lost to eventual event winner "Tequila Sunrise" All is not lost however as we earned enough points to basically secure our third consecutive championship and fourth overall in Top Fuel. Be sure to catch us at the last two remaining races as we continue to burn up the lake!!! Oct. 11-13 at Lake Havasu City, AZ and the World finals in Chandller, AZ Oct; 31-Nov. 3. We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing at the races!!
Well hello everyone and thanks for your continued support of EKR!!
Another great weekend of racing at Lake Lucas in Wheatland, Mo for my amazing team and driver securing our fifth race in a row in 2013 and all but locking up another world championship with three races left on the "Refuse to Lose" tour.. Of course there will be no champagne poppin' around here 'til the world finals in Nov. We started out the weekend in "test mode" trying to improve on our performance and consistency, although we haven't lost in a quite a while we still aren't running the big numbers that we are used to so what the heck, we might as well experiment a little seeing as there are a couple teams that are slowly creeping up on us. We ended up in the #2 spot after qualifying was over and faced off with the E-3 spark plugs boat in the first around and eventually the Speedco boat in the final, Madd Maxx once again proved why he is the baddest dude on water by fighting off an upset boat and weather to prevail with a 3.76 @243 mph and a huge pedal job in the middle.. (I may have overpowered her just a teentsie bit) For some odd reason Mother Nature always seems to know when there's a boat race in town but the team kicked butt all weekend and Daryl somehow kept the ol' girl between the uprights on every run. It goes without saying that we couldn't or wouldn't be enjoying this success without the support of our awesome sponsors, friends, family and fans.... Thank you all for everything you do to keep us afloat!!
P.S. don't forget to catch us on T.V., with winning comes exposure and we're doing our level best to provide a little "return on investment" The television schedule is posted on lucasoildragboats.com
